Megan Tullock

The Fayetteville Board of Education is seeking applicants interested to serve as the At-Large Position 1 school board member following the resignation of Megan Tullock.

Ms. Tullock has announced her resignation from the Board of Education effective at the end of the day of March 28, 2024.  She was first elected to the Fayetteville School Board in 2016.

“It’s been a privilege to serve the community as a member of the school board, and my resignation is in no way a withdrawal of my support for FPS,” said Tullock. “So many wonderful things are happening throughout the district. I am excited for Dr. Mulford and his leadership team, our kids and families, and staff at every level.”

“We are very grateful to Megan for her years of service on the school board,” said school board president Nika Waitsman. “She served through some trying times for our school district, and she was always looking for ways the district could better serve our students, their families, and our staff members.”

The school board will appoint a replacement for Ms. Tullock’s position at the end of April of 2024.  Pursuant to Arkansas law, the term for this appointment shall last until the next school election, which will be in March of 2025.

Any person interested in being considered by the school board for the position should send a letter of consideration and current résumé via U.S. Mail, hand delivery, or email to Nika Waitsman, Board President, Fayetteville Public Schools, 1000 W. Bulldog Blvd., Fayetteville, AR 72701 or to nikatwaits@gmail.com. The letter of consideration and résumé from interested applicants must be received by Monday, April 15 and should include:

  • Why the applicant is interested in serving as a Board of Education member,

  • How the applicant feels qualified for this service,

  • The applicant’s time availability and dedication to this service, and

  • What the applicant believes are the 3 most important issues facing the Board of Education in the next few years.

All applicants for this vacancy must reside within the Fayetteville School District. Any inquiries may be directed to Mrs. Waitsman at the email address listed above or to Alan Wilbourn, Executive Director of Communications & PR for Fayetteville Public Schools, at alan.wilbourn@fayar.net
